Equipment
- Baking Tray
- Baking Paper
- Mixing Bowl
- Small Bowl
- Mixing Spoon
Ingredients
- 115 g unsalted butter
- 90 g brown sugar
- 50 g caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg large
- 210 g plain flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- salt
- 150 g chocolate chip + additional for decoration
Instructions
- Place your butter in a heatproof bowl and heat in either the microwave or on the hob until it has just melted (may need stirring during this process to prevent burning, you don't want the butter to be hot just soft enough to stir).
- Add your sugars, vanilla extract, and egg. Stir until smooth.
- Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir until a oft cookie dough begins to form. Once cookie dough has formed, add your chocolate chips and stir until it is all combined.
- Chill your cookie dough in the fridge for a minimum of one hour.
- Pre-heat your oven to 180c/160c fan/gas mark 4. Line two baking trays with baking paper.
- Roll balls of cookie dough (approximately 1½ tbsp per ball) and using your hands gently flatten them onto your baking tray. Ensure you leave enough room for your cookies to spread.
- Bake your cookies for ten to twelve minutes until golden.
- Whilst your cookies are still warm from the oven, you can add a few additional chocolate chips to the top.
